[2007.6.29 14:34:12]Huang Zecun:To carry out the exchange year between China and South Korea, build closer relations between Shandong Province and South Korea, our province will hold “The 2007 Friendly Week between Shandong Province of China and South Korea” together with the South Korean embassy in China. Today, we are honored to have invited Mr. Whang Joung Il, Minister of the South Korean Embassy in China, and he will give a briefing on the related affairs and answer journalists’ questions, together with Mr. Zhang Jigang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and spokesman.

[2007.6.29 14:35:42]Zhang Jigang:Today, I will briefly introduce the particular details of “The Friendly Week between Shandong Province of China and South Korea”, jointly held by Shandong Province and South Korea.

[2007.6.29 14:35:57]Zhang Jigang:The year 2007 is the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea and it is also the exchange year between China and South Korea negotiated by Chairman Hu Jintao and President Roh Moo-hyun of South Korea. “The 2007 Friendly Week between Shandong Province of China and South Korea” is the first important foreign affair after the close of “The Ninth Provincial Party Congress”, so it is significant for promoting friendship, deepening understanding, raising cooperation level and furthering substantive cooperation between Shandong Province and South Korea to a new stage.

[2007.6.29 14:38:47]Zhang Jigang:“The 2007 Friendly Week between Shandong Province of China and South Korea” is hosted by the Provincial Government and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China and is organized by the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Provincial Department of Foreign Economy and Trade, the Provincial Cultural Department, the Provincial Tourism Administration, the Provincial Press Office, Korea National Tourism Organization, Korea Foundation, and Korea Culture & Content Agency. 

[2007.6.29 14:38:52]Zhang Jigang:“The Friendly Week” is scheduled to be held from July 12 to 16 in Jinan, the capital city of our province. By then, more than 150 personages from the Korean embassy, and the Korean economic, business, cultural, and entertainment circles will come to our province to participate in the activities.

[2007.6.29 14:38:57]Zhang Jigang:“The friendly week” lasts 5 days, with most of its activities carried out in Jinan. After the completion of the activities in Jinan, the South Korean Delegation will go to Qingdao for other activities. At present, preparatory work for the friendly week is going on intensely and systematically, and the plan for every activity is being further detailed and made practicable. Next, I will briefly introduce some major activities of this friendly week and their characteristics:

[2007.6.29 14:40:00]Zhang Jigang:The first one is the economic and trade conference between Shandong Province and South Korea. Our province is the area in China with the greatest number of South Korean investments. What’s more, South Korea is also Shandong Province’s biggest trade partner, biggest foreign investment country and biggest foreign tourist source. The South Korean Investing enterprises have played an active role in expanding the employment of our province, increasing the wage income of the local residents and developing the local economy of our province.

[2007.6.29 14:40:04]Zhang Jigang:At the same time, they have made active contribution to expanding South Korea’s exportation, and realizing industry transfer and upgrading, achieving mutual benefit and win-win between the two parties. In order to further attract South Korean investments, improve the quality of investment use and optimize the structure of foreign investments, “The Economic and Trade Conference between Shandong Province and South Korea” will be held at Shandong Mansion in Jinan on the morning of July 13th.

[2007.6.29 14:40:09]Zhang Jigang:The second is the cultural industry symposium and enterprise conference between Shandong Province and South Korea. It is an important task proposed by Secretary Li Jianguo on the Ninth Provincial Party Congress to develop the advanced culture with Shandong characteristics, construct industry-concentrated areas with Qi culture, Lu culture, red culture, canal culture, coastal culture, Taishan culture and folk culture, and create a batch of cultural products with Shandong characteristics.

[2007.6.2914:43:04 ]Zhang Jigang:“The Economic and Trade Conference between Shandong Province and South Korea” to be held on the morning of July 13th at Shandong Mansion in Jinan will mainly include two parts: the symposium of people from the cultural circle and the conference of Shandong and South Korean cultural enterprises.

During this friendly week, there will also be large-scale South Korea entertainment evenings, South Korean film festival and South Korean cultural sightseeing photograph exhibition. On the afternoon of July 13, Kim Ha Joong, South Korean ambassador to China, will also attend the TV program "the Qilu Forum" to deliver a speech with the topic “Jointly Creating a Glorious Future of the Relations between South Korea and China ”.
